( votes)Passion is the debut album from Melodic Rock band Passion. The band was formed by former Night By Night vocalist Daniel Rossal, AKA Lion Ravarez. Rossal recorded and produced most of the album before recruiting, Chance Vanderlain – Guitar, Weston James – Bass, and Bobby Laker – Drums to round out the lineup.
Passion really does an amazing job of recreating the Hair Metal/AOR style. The sound and style, the production, and the songwriting are straight out of 1989, and impressively so. The record doesn’t sound like an attempt to recreate the era, and neither does it sound like a leftover. Passion sounds very much like Danger Danger. Songs like “Trespass On Love” and “Too Bad For Baby” really capture the essence of AOR radio hits. “Built To Please” has kind of Lynch Mob vibe and a little more of an early 90s sound.
In fact, there really are no filler tunes on Passion. Each of the 10 tracks has its own merit, and the production is just raw enough to walk the line between an 80s era record and a modern production. Fans of 80s Rock, Hair Metal, AOR, and Melodic Rock will definitely want to check out Passion.
