( vote)Old Rhapsody bandmates Luca Turilli and Fabio Lione are back together, along with most of the classic Rhapsody lineup. Turilli / Lione Rhapsody is another chapter in the increasingly complex book of Rhapsody bands. This band is essentially Luca Turilli’s Rhapsody, but with Fabio Lione on vocals instead of Alessandro Conti (who is now in Twilight Force). As such, Zero Gravity (Rebirth And Revolution) sounds very much like a Luca Turilli’s Rhapsody release, and not too much like a classic Rhapsody or Rhapsody Of Fire album. While this is definitely still a Power Metal release, it is heavier on the keyboards and synths and a bit more progressive sounding than anything from Rhapsody’s late 90’s or early 2000’s output.
Generally speaking, this is a very strong album. As we’ve come to expect from Luca Turilli, the scope of the mix and arrangement is truly staggering. Some of the songs are a bit more accessible than on previous Turilli releases (not including Kings Of The Nordic Twilight or Prophet Of The Last Eclipse), so this album might attract new fans as well as long-time Rhapsody audiences.
It’s nice to know that there are still new, exciting sounding albums being released in the topsy turvy world of Italian Symphonic Power Metal. Zero Gravity (Rebirth And Evolution) lives up to its prophetic name while maintaining a strong connection to its well-loved historical legacy.
