( votes)With a fun mixture of 70s Judas Priest, Thundersteel era RIOT, and perhaps even some classic Helloween, Metalian’s new album Vortex is a fist-to-the-sky ode to headbanging, 80s Metal mix-tapes, and chucking empty beer bottles at the local sheriff’s car from the window of your ’79 Camaro.
With only 8 tracks and a relatively short total running time, Vortex doesn’t mess around and gets right down to business with track titles like “The Sirens Wail”, “Full Throttle”, and “Liquid Fire”. This is a soundtrack for fast driving and forgetting your past mistakes. The unapologetic blend of early Thrash and Classic 80s Metal influences makes for a fun filled, guitar solo laden, shout chorus drenched collection of cassette era headbanging hits.
Vortex is the third Metalian album and at this point, it seems obvious that they’re doing exactly what they want to be doing. If you like the overall style, then this album will kick your ass and leave you wanting more.
