( vote)This debut, Swedish Power Metal release from Vandor is a treat for Classic Power Metal fans in the vein of early Rhapsody and Heavenly. While In The Land Of Vandor is not nearly as intense as some of the more Dragonforce-esq contemporary Power Metal releases, this is without a doubt an enjoyable release.
Founded by two brothers, Vide and Alve Bjerde, in 2015, the band quickly found its footing and filled its ranks to become a thriving band on the Euro circuit. Tracks like “Wrath Of The Night”, “Warrior Of Time” and the self-glorifying “The Land Of Vandor” will please fans of the aforementioned European acts as well as their German and Swedish counterparts. The album is very consistent overall and although it sticks pretty close to the Power Metal cookbook, there are enough catchy choruses and fantastical melodies to please even the most elitist metal snobs. For a debut album, this is a strong step forward and speaks well for Vandor’s future. Three cheers for Vandor!
