( vote)Irish Heavy Metal act Stormzone are back with a crushing, sixth album: Lucifer’s Factory. Spanning thirteen tracks, Lucifer’s Factory makes a strong case to justify the band’s continued growth on the european metal festival scene. With a near-perfect blend of guitar driven heaviness and melodic vocal lines, this effort may be one of their most consistent and accessible. Checkout the video for “Dark Hedges” below and you’ll understand why this band is so consistently well received. Vocalist Harv Harbinson lets the band take care of the foundational power while he floats in the cold air above, delivery his soaring lines and heartfelt verses.
The highlight of this album is the lyrical content. While it’s not a through and through concept album, all the songs are at least loosely based on Irish myths and folklore. Considering the origins of the band, having the material so closely tied to the people performing it gives it a natural honesty and genuine passion that is often lacking on contemporary metal albums.
Lucifer’s Factory is a fun, very well done, and passionate metal album, that although at times becomes a bit too familiar sounding, still lands nicely among the top releases of Melodic Metal bands today.
