( vote)The Missing Peace is the eleventh studio release, and the first LA Guns album in 14 years to feature founding Guitarist Tracii Guns, and classic era Lead Vocalist Phil Lewis. After years of revolving members, and even 2 different bands performing as LA Guns, for diehard fans, it’s the record you have been craving. Of all the 80’s bands enjoying the resurgence of Hair Metal and Sleaze Rock, few have the classic members, even fewer are releasing new music, and fewer still are able to deliver something that pays homage to their own identity. LA Guns have done just that. The classic sound of one of the pioneers of the LA Sleaze Rock scene return with their mojo intact.
The Missing Peace, obviously a nod to the tumultuous relationship between Lewis and Guns, could very easily be the follow up to Hollywood Vampires, the last record released with the classic lineup before the Seattle wave hit. It takes a couple listens for it really to sink in what they have created here. The Missing Peace sounds like a new record production wise. The songwriting, and the performances sound like 1992 LA Guns. Current members Michael Grant, Guitar, Johnny Martin, Bass, and Shane Fitzgibbon, Drums, do an excellent job of keeping the groove and sound locked in to that classic line up vibe. In short, The Missing Peace is a brand new record that manages to capture the classic LA Sleaze Rock Vibe without sounding like it’s clinging to former glory, nor sounding like it’s trying to reinvent itself. Fans of 80’s Rock, Sleaze Rock, Hair Metal, and of course fans of LA Guns will find plenty to enjoy.
