( vote)With only a two track demo as a previous offering, Blazing Rust comes storming out of the Metal gates with Armed To Exist, their first full-length release. This slightly modernized take on classic New Wave Of British Heavy Metal (from Russia) blends everyone’s favorite classic Metal acts like Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Riot, and early Manowar, to create a fun-filled and easily lovable collection of fist-raising Heavy Metal. They do play it a bit safe at times, but despite some familiar sounding riffs and progressions, this is an album that will easily please fans of NWOBHM.
One can hope and perhaps assume that Pure Steel Records will offer a vinyl edition of this release, as this would be the perfect soundtrack to weekend, head-banging, car wash.
Lead vocalist Igor Arbuzov has perfectly captured the spirit of the genre, while infusing it with an ever so slight modern twist. The high-notes and melodies are there in spades, but with a youthful attitude and gritty delivery, the vocal performance on Armed To Exist is definitely a highlight.
Standout tracks include “Blindfold”, “Dying World” and the title track “Blazing Rust”.
