( votes)For Iced Earth’s 12th studio album, gone are the tedious album spanning story arcs and conceptual themes, with the band favoring a much more straightforward approach. Incorruptible raises the bar somewhat for a band that has had consistency problems in the past. Iced Earth’s lineup changes are the stuff of legends, however the current crop of metallers filling the band’s ranks more than do the material justice. A tight and polished production helps propel the listening experience up a few notches and the lack of the concept album approach lets each song find its maximum, independent potential.
Tracks like “Seven Headed Whore” are perfect in-your-face slabs of modern leaning Thrash, while a song like “Raven Wing” fills the hearts of all those who would stand and fight for the classic power ballad.
Overall, Incorruptible will serve fans of Iced Earth well for those days when they just want a quick fix, but it probably won’t quite make the Top 5 list of the act’s finest efforts.
