( votes)Sacred Oath is back with a new, tight, hard-hitting studio album entitled Twelve Bells. This release marks their 10th album and this ten track collection of ’80s Thrash Metal meets Power Metal will easily please fans of most Metal genres.
Twelve Bells has some interesting production elements, including synthesized vocal effects and artificial harmonies. While most albums within this style would suffer from the addition of these elements, Twelve Bells uses them only as well-placed, stylistic effects and they simply create a more interesting atmosphere and add depth to the songs. The guitar and drum tones are tight and dry, and although they are not dialed in to the highest levels of aggression, they serve the songs well.
Sacred Oath has been generous with the song lengths here, with most tracks clocking in at over 5 minutes. The songs “Well Of Souls” and “The Last Word” are over 8 and 9 minutes, respectively. It’s not just quantity over quality; the songs don’t sound any longer than they need to be.
Overall, Twelve Bells will find a nice home with the Classic Thrash crowd. Highlights include “Twelve Bells”, “Fighter’s Heart”, and “New Religion”.
