( vote)It’s been close to 10 years since the last Cryonic Temple album, and during that time the band has gone through a number of changes, most notably with the introduction of Mattias Lilja, Cryonic Temple’s third vocalist. Both Mattias’ vocal style and the band’s decision to distance itself from the more Thrash-oriented sound that they explored on Immortal makes Into The Glorious Battle a pleasant return to the band’s Power Metal roots.
Overall, compared to the earlier Cryonic Temple albums like Blood, Guts & Glory and In Thy Power, this new release has a somewhat more melodic and less aggressive sound, yet it still conveys the majestic, emotional release that fans have come to associate with Cryonic Temple and their fellow Swedish Power Metal counterparts.
Though at times the songwriting seems a bit redundant, there are some nice highlights to be found here with tracks like”Man Of A Thousand Faces”, “Mean Streak” (no relation to the Y & T song of the same name), and “Mighty Eagle”. For Cryonic Temple fans who have been anxiously awaiting a new album, this will more than fit the bill.
