( votes)Beyond The Black has a winner here. An album with great range, the seventeen tracks of Lost In Forever span a variety of emotional content. Guitar work is first-rate and percussion is punchy. But it is the pleasantly thick bass that gives this album more heaviness than a lot of other Symphonic Metal. Jennifer Haben’s natural voice is a nice instrument in itself, often best when unadorned. Christopher Hummels adds some particularly nice contributions with his voice on the last track, and Rick Altzi of Masterplan brings a fine second-track cameo.
This is a long album, with four bonus tracks on this release. There is quite a bit to experience and it’s hard to listen to it in one sitting. It’s like seeing several epic movies back to back. You can be forgiven for taking a break midway and allowing some of the record to digest before continuing. Songs are consistently good and played with passion. Due to its power, variety, creativity, and talent, Lost In Forever is certainly among the best Symphonic Metal albums you will find.
