Snakes for hair, and a gaze that turns you to stone! The face of the hideous Medusa adorns Lancer’s Mastery. The cover art foreshadows themes of ancient gods and mythology. “Victims Of The Nile” is a sweet melancholy epitaph, and the remaining tracks are also lyrically apt, often telling stories and exploring concepts of divine follies.

2017 marks their semi-decadal album jubilee with their third LP in five years. Lancer has been adamant about staying pure and basic this time around, as if from a live show. It does therefore have less sheen than their last album Second Storm, and feels a bit rough. But the evident sincerity and talent keep this record strong, and fans will be happy with some new material.

Jude was a reviewer here at Metal Express Radio, living in Taiwan but originally from the great state of Ohio, USA. He first got into music when a fellow weirdo in his catholic high school needed someone to play guitar with. They jammed on some Grunge Rock, but soon he got hooked on the blisteringly-fast shredding of Randy Rhoads and other greats. Later, he bought Metallica's Ride The Lightning as his first album purchase. During that time, his friends and him would end up at local Metal shows. He played in some bands himself as well.
