( vote)Ukrainian Power Metalers Defiant have answered the question, “What would it sound like if Megadeth made a Power Metal album?” With Time Isn’t Healing, the quintet have blended traditional Power Metal and Thrash elements with a noticeably Dave Mustaine-like vocal delivery. There are even in-your-face soloed bass riffs reminiscent of Dave Ellefson. All of this is not necessarily a bad thing if you like Megadeth, however, fans who are looking for a more typically Power Metal offering may be a bit put off. Fortunately for Defiant, there is a lot of overlap between Power Metal and Thrash fans.
While the release may fill a small niche and is generally well done, taken as either a Power Metal album or Thrash album alone, it’s nothing special. Perhaps a better album title would have been Time Isn’t Healing…But Who’s Counting?
Highlights include “Soul Is Burning”, “Milestones Of Time” and “The Jericho”.
