Messenger hails from Germany, and Starwolf – Pt. 2: Novastorm represents their second release to continue carrying out a space saga Epic Power Metal storyline. Messenger follows true to form with respect to their Epic Power Metal roots, showing strong influences from others in this subgenre (e.g., Blind Guardian). Overall the storyline is cheesy and the lyrics tend to be force-fit into their music, but there is still some good musicianship to admire and soak in. Novastorm isn’t going to grab hold of you suck you into its fantasy world, but it’s an enjoyable listen at most turns nonetheless.
