Finland’s often the nesting grounds for innovative flavors of Metal, and Amorphis, celebrating 25 years as a band in 2015, certainly fits the mold (or breaks it) as a band that marches to the beat of their own drum. The Red Cloud is their latest offering, portraying nothing but the best aspects of both Death Metal AND Progressive Metal.

Tomi Joutsen transitions his approach between death shouts and highly melodic vocal mixtures … and he seems to have an uncanny intuition on when to switch, which may even amaze death-shout haters. Be sure to check out this eclectically charming effort.

Based out of Indianapolis, USA he was first turned on to Hard Rock music in the mid-1970s when he purchased Deep Purple's Machine Head as his first album. He was immediately enthralled with the powerful guitar sound and pronounced drumbeat, and had to get more! His collection quickly expanded to include as many of Heavy Rock bands of the time that he could get his hands on, such as Ted Nugent, Judas Priest, and Black Sabbath, to name just a few.
