US-based Fear Factory is cited often as an influence for many bands in the Death Metal/Heavy Thrash subgenres ever since their inception. Some 26 years later, Fear Factory’s set to release their 9^th studio album entitled Genexus, with the seemingly endless rotational door of bass players continuing to spin; stopping now on Tony Campos (Soulfly, Static X). Well, what can you say about Fear Factory? If you love the heavy side of Thrash with semi-shouted/semi-growled lyrics, then you’re likely to love this album. However, if you’re looking for clean, melodic lyrics without the ball-breaking crunch, then know to look elsewhere.

Dan is a former partner at Metal Express Radio, and also served as a reviewer, photographer and interviewer on occasions. Based out of Indianapolis, USA he was first turned on to Hard Rock music in the mid-1970s when he purchased Deep Purple's Machine Head as his first album. He was immediately enthralled with the powerful guitar sound and pronounced drumbeat, and had to get more! His collection quickly expanded to include as many of Heavy Rock bands of the time that he could get his hands on, such as Ted Nugent, Judas Priest, and Black Sabbath, to name just a few.
