Blackwelder is a new “supergroup” featuring Ralf Scheepers and Aquiles Priester (Primal Fear), Andrew Szucs (Seven Seraphim), and Bjorn Englen (Dio Disciples). With Traditional, Power, and Progressive backgrounds in the fold, one could expect quite a diverse offering from this band. Instead, this quartet delivers in-your-face, straight-forward Traditional Metal with some Power Metal characteristics that essentially cause Blackwelder’s sound to come through as “aggressive” and heavy as hell. With Scheepers at the microphone and Priester bludgeoning the drum kit, the band sounds more like Primal Fear (at their best) than anyone else … but you’ll find that’s a good thing.

Based out of Indianapolis, USA he was first turned on to Hard Rock music in the mid-1970s when he purchased Deep Purple's Machine Head as his first album. He was immediately enthralled with the powerful guitar sound and pronounced drumbeat, and had to get more! His collection quickly expanded to include as many of Heavy Rock bands of the time that he could get his hands on, such as Ted Nugent, Judas Priest, and Black Sabbath, to name just a few.
