( votes)Kix is a veteran Hair Metal band from Maryland, USA that spiked in popularity back in the late ‘80s with the album Blow My Fuse. Their last studio album was in 1995 after the Hair Metal bubble burst, and Kix has largely kept under the radar until now, with a brand new album entitled Rock Your Face Off. Many people ask why mega-successful bands of the late ‘80s/early ‘90s only tour and no longer write new music. Well, unfortunately, Rock Your Face Off is a prime example why … as unoriginal and juvenile as the album title is, even more disappointing is the music contained within.
There are more than a handful of decent intros and riffs to be found amongst the 12 tracks of Rock Your Face Off, but that’s where the originality and enjoyment ends. The lyrics are awkward, senseless, and quickly forgettable, and musically there’s very little to cause you to want to come back time and time again. You’d think after 19 years that the boys from Kix would have a wealth of new ideas and catchy, relevant material to spew out and share, but instead Rock Your Face Off keeps screaming B-side material at best.
