After 2008’s Thrash Speed Burn release, it was expected that Exciter would try to compose a high class release as they once did in the 80s, but in the end in didn’t happen. Although this album does present some decent tracks such as “Death Machine”, “Demented Prisoners”, and “Slaughtered In Vain”, it is hard to shake the feeling that Exciter stopped making high quality Speed Metal as they once used to in the past.

The band tried to implement an 80s aura for this release, however, there are some inconsistencies within the mixing & mastering, which partly make the compositions to sound as if they were basement tracks. For fans of old school demos, this trait may be nice, but for those unfamiliar with the band, it will be hard to make something out of the speedy passages.

As hard as it is to give an “average” grade to such giants as Exciter, with Death Machine the band just didn’t make the cut. With all the expectations for this album to be way better than their previous, it just didn’t happen.
