Beckoned from the dark depths of Finland, reigns Verjnuarmu. Verjnuarmu was evoked by Savon Suma and Musta Savo. Musta Savo was intended to beat the sinister drums and Savon Suma was assumed the malignant guitar alongside the bleak bass. Over time these two demons decided they needed intensification. That’s when Viitakemies (guitar) and Woema (bass) joined the clan. After a while they felt they needed a vocalist to growl their vulgar vocals. And so Puijon Perkele was accepted into this nefarious dynasty. With this band’s new album, Ruatokansan Uamunkoetto, they are slowly luring in new listeners with their uniquely dark sound of Savo Metal.

“Tulesta pimmeyvven” opens this album with wicked guitars, vice vocals, gloomy bass and those pleasantly dark drums. Savon’s voice creates a story along with the foulness of the music. A truly magnificent mix.

“Kuu paestaa, kuollu ajjaa” enters with an even viler tune at first, but changes it up a little bit. After the vigorous introduction it moves into calmness but soon travels the path back to the iniquitous Savor Metal sound once again. The vocals in this track are different; they swim from clean to grunting, then dance clean with growls. It’s a unique sound you don’t hear much in the Metal scene anymore.

Third is “Mustan virran silta”. It opens with deep growling vocals transforming into higher screeches and even going into some clean singing. This song is by far the most experimental with the vocals, and it works magnificently. This song resembles a dark masquerade of instruments and voice showing Verjnuarmu’s sinister supremacy.

“Luita ja hampaeta” sways in with murky bass and drums. It’s rare to see an intro with just drums and bass, if even just for a few seconds. This track has some brutal guitar; A very lovely yet cruel song. Puijon comes in with more pitiless vocals than before in their fifth song, “Surmatun sakkeet”. This track has some forbidding breakdowns that would make the David Bowie fans cringe.

“Huaskalinnut” and “Kuhtumattomat vieraat” slow it down a bit. Yes, this wrathful Savo Metal band let’s their less-vicious side show. But don’t start thinking this albums falling into the pit of a ballad, in fact…its far from it. “Huaslalinnut” and Kuhtumattomat vieraat” still have all the shadowy-ness and ominous sound as before, but they’re a little slower, that’s all. Actually they add an eerie dark sound to this album.

“Kirkkomuan kansoo” opens up with the familiar ruthless drums, bass and guitar we all love. The vocals almost sound like a hiss in the beginning, and drown into passionately dark singing. Eventually there’s a ripping solo and with a fading of drear it’s over.

“Raahahenki” is filled with Metal guitar and spiraling vocals. “Kalamavesj” sways from distorted guitars and light vocals to a perfection of growling creating a harsh bliss to foreign Metalhead’s ears. And with a departure of malevolent sound into an eerie humming it’s all over. The Savo Metal has left you with a sound so unique it has its own genre.

It’s very rare to find this style of Metal, and when you do… you cherish it. If you’re into Saattue or Ajattara definitely check this band out!!!

Due to no musical influences besides The Beatles growing up, it was a little difficult to find her true "vibe" in music, but once she heard Children of Bodom she was hooked like a kid to candy. When she started playing guitar, she got more turned on to Metal. Playing guitar was influenced from Metal to Classical music. Her guitar idols are Zakk Wylde and Dimebag. She listens to everything from Slayer to Bach to true 80's. She's the kind of chick that'd rather be at a Metal concert standing next to some old sweaty guy than be at home watching movies.
