( votes)A double live album, recorded in Atlanta, featuring many of the best loved tracks from the band that have survived several decades, and many trends. Kansas is a strange ol’ beast, and have never been easy to put a label on.
Fiddle, synthesizers, guitars, vocals and bass, sounds like a peculiar gathering of instruments in the world of rock, but believe me, it works. For those unfamiliar with Kansas, the band is an inspired blend of progressive metal/ rock, ballads, MOR/ AOR and melodic rock/ pop. Sometimes all these styles appear in the same song!
On the first listen, this album sounded a little bit pompous, “too perfect” and not very rock ‘n roll. Well, I have to admit I thought it was a waste of a good piece of plastic, but the quality of the songs and performances slowly got to me, and now I’ve grown pretty fond of DVD. Hell, check out Belexes, Dust in the wind, the preacher or Point of know return.
A rather good comeback and a rather good live-album.
Highlights: Point of know return, Fight fire with fire, Dust in the wind, Belexes, The preacher.
