( votes)No less than 13 fantastic rock songs on this compilation DVD that serves as a taster for Classic Rock Legends; a company that specialize for releasing high quality DVDs and CDs. This compilation is a fine example of that, because all the songs are great in quality and if we mention that most of the recordings were done back in the eighties it sounds even more than a compliment. Most of the bands on this DVD are playing two songs with the exception of Saxon (Wheels of Steel), guitarist Ronnie Montrose (Night of the Guitars) and the British kings of space rock, the one and only Hawkwind (Night of the Hawk).
The other participating bands are Asia featuring John Wetton (Heat of the Moment, Sole Survivor), Wishbone Ash (The King Will Come, Blowin’ Free) and Uriah Heep that plays Sweet Freedom first and then there’s a medley of some classic Heep songs (The Wizard, Paradise, Spell, Circle of Hands). Also there’s Ian Gillan who was touring with his solo stuff at the time, but of course the two songs he plays here are from the Deep Purple catalogue (Demon’s Eye, Smoke on the Water).
Mostly Autumn is the only band on this DVD whose origins are from the nineties and their music is great folky, Celtic influenced progressive rock. The two songs they play are The Spirit of Autumn Past and Never the Rainbow. This compilation is really what it was made for, a good taster for all the great DVDs on the label’s catalogue. It’s just hard to decide which one to order.
