As mentioned in the review of Bob Catley’s last solo album, Magnum returns to the rock-scene again, and thankfully it’s a lot better than Bob’s solo effort. In fact, Breath of Life, is probably one of the best records Magnum have ever put out! Up there with: Chase the dragon, On a storytellers night or Vigilante. Magnum still delivers classic, hard, melodic rock, with a European twist (still not as glossy as their American colleagues), and a sort of ” proud/big” sound. Breath of life succeeds in achieving that well-known Magnum sound, but with an updated, modern feel. And the buggers get away with it, thanks to a bunch of excellent songs.

Lend an ear to: Cry, This heart, Everyday and Still. That’s only the four first songs! Especially Still, stands out, and could/ should be the track to sell the album to masses. Give the whole album a couple of spins, and you’ll find out that the looong wait was worth it.
Magnum is back, providing essential listening for these cold, February nights. Giving you nothing less than a Breath of life,…and life is good.

Highlights: Still, Night after night, After the rain, Everyday, That holy touch
