JUDAS PRIEST – Demolition

Finally, the Priest is back again. Jugulator wasn’t neither the critics favorite, nor the fans. I actually liked that record, and when I hear Demolition I simple adore Jugulator. At least, the latter had decent songwriting, though the sound took a while to get used to, but Demolition, apart from sounding even more modern and further away from classic Priest, doesn’t even have strong songs. There’s not even one song that stands out, and believe me; I have played the record a whole lot. I could mention a handful of potentials, but fact is that none of them came out good enough (from an old Judas Priest fan’s view) to even mention. You can find good ideas, but the way the band has treated them… Well, maybe an outside producer would be a good idea for next time? Speaking of next time – I can imagine Ripper Owens getting blamed for this record not being another Painkiller. The problem was never Ripper, he is dead on, but when the songs pass by, I can see nails to his coffin as the lead singer of this monster band. A pity…
